Data problem

Being the largest distributor of pharmaceutical products in the state of Tamil Nadu with over 22,000+ products and over 1300+ outlets (customers), the client wanted to start data analysis projects in their organization with the goal of streamlining operations and reducing costs across the company.

Main Objectives:

  1. Understand sale of products across categories, branches, regions and salesman
  2. Revenue vs. Margins vs. Expenses reports to understand revenue flow and fund allocation
  3. Goals and targets to be set for branches, salesman and product categories

Impact Created :

  1. Viewing reports periodically brought uniformity in data consumption across the company Scheduled reporting/ ad hoc reports every month that captured the overall performance of the company reviewed during weekly/ monthly meetings with board/ upper management and employees
  2. Important metrics captured and standardized across all branches: Quantity, revenues & margins earned across categories, margin per product, margins per salesman, new customers acquired and so on
  3. Targets set for branches, salesman, customers and reviewed on a weekly basis and at the beginning of every month
  4. Seven-day working week shifted to 6 day working week (Sunday was made holiday) after analysis showed that 6 day working week was most efficient for the company as a whole (margins vs. expenses analysis)
  5. Helped reverse faulty and erroneous data capturing on the company cloud-based software to help facilitate reporting and data analysis
  6. Trained in-house team on MS Office and on statistical methods to enable team to operate efficiently and error free
